Maker’s Mark® Sustainability - Protecting our work environment
The limestone-filtered 10-acre spring-fed lake at Star Hill Farm was key to Bill, Sr.’s acquisition of the property and one reason Maker’s is so focused on sustainability efforts and protecting the watershed. This designated water sanctuary reflects our commitment to improving plant diversity, preventing erosion, increasing groundwater infiltration and providing wildlife habitat. Other sustainability efforts include adding several acres of natural land buffers, planting thousands of trees and shrubs, helping farmers research grains to determine the ideal types for our local soil and climate and using reverse osmosis to reclaim water that would otherwise be lost in production. We look forward to sharing the details as we progress our initiatives.
History of Maker’s Mark® - Meet The Maker’s Mark® Family
Maker’s Mark® began with one family’s quest to create a bourbon they enjoyed drinking and sharing with friends. That’s hardly revolutionary today, but in 1953 it changed an industry.
